My holiday gift to you: a media placement tip

‘Tis the season for easy news media placements! This is due to a few factors:

1) Newspapers typically run “fatter” this time of year because their ad sales are up (due to the holiday retail sales season). So editors face a situation where they need to fill more pages with news content.

2) Many news organizations run smaller crews in late December as reporters, editors and photographers take vacation to enjoy the winter holidays with their families and loved ones.

3) Many PR professionals are also kicking back for the holidays. So there is less competition out there for the energetic PR pro who puts down the egg nog and gets to work trying to place news!

These three factors combine to produce a perfect opportunity for you to place some news. If you’ve got a legitimate news story that has a local angle, now is one of the best times of the year to send it out! And if you’ve got a photo to go with it, that’s even better.

There are very few news editors on the planet who would prefer to run a wire story instead of your local news release and photo to fill that gaping hole on their page.

So that’s my gift to you. Enjoy the holidays!
